Your privacy matters. This policy explains what data MeasureLawn LLC collects, why we collect it, and what rights you have. We have tried to keep it clear and straightforward.

Who We Are

MeasureLawn LLC (“MeasureLawn,” “Measure Lawn,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a Tennessee limited liability company and the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. MeasureLawn, MeasureLawn Pro and MeasureTurf are services operated by MeasureLawn LLC. Our website is measurelawn.com. This policy also covers our other sites (measureturf.com, mylawnpage.com and measurelawnpro.com), MeasureLawn Pro and MeasureTurf accounts for lawn care and turf businesses, and the quote tools and quote pages we run for those businesses. International Users

Measure Lawn is available worldwide. If you visit us from the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR apply to our processing of your personal data, and you have all of the rights described in this policy — including the rights to access, correct, delete, and export your data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time.

Optional AI lawn detection feedback

The AI detection beta uses public aerial imagery. If you leave sharing ticked, we store a review when you confirm the result, correct it, or report a photo problem. The review contains the aerial photo (including the plant-cover layer the AI reads), your property's lot outline and location, the building outlines used, the AI's original outline and its confidence map, your final lawn shapes and any corrections, how the correction was made (brush strokes, zoom and time, never your identity), any photo problems you report, and the model version. Sharing starts selected, and you can uncheck it before confirming. Nothing is shared until you confirm or send feedback, and you can use your measurement without sharing this review. If you uncheck sharing, the AI result is kept only as part of your map, the same way as a map you draw yourself (see “How your map is saved” below). Shared reviews stay in a separate review queue. Only reviews where you corrected the lawn can be used to improve our models, and only after an admin checks them. Training exports use image pixels and shape labels without your address or geographic coordinates. The original review keeps its location so we can compare results and stop the same property from entering tests twice.

Shared reviews are not linked to your account, so deleting your account does not remove them. We keep them while we use them to test and improve our lawn detection, or until you ask us to remove one. To request removal of a shared beta review, contact privacy@measurelawn.com with the property location and approximate review date. This sharing choice applies to beta feedback; regular saved-map and account features are described below.

What Data We Collect

• Property address - when you search for your property
• Your device location - only if you tap “Use my location” and allow it in your browser. Your browser sends the location to Google Maps to find the nearest address. We only use it if it is accurate to within about 40 meters, and only after you confirm the address is yours. If you confirm, we use that address (and, in the map tool, that point) as your property's location on the map, to load satellite imagery, buildings and public lot lines, and it may be saved with your map just like the location of an address you search for. If you don't confirm, we don't keep it. We never track your location in the background
• Property boundaries and exclusion zones - when you draw on the map, or when outlines are filled in for you (building outlines and, where available, lot lines from public records or our optional AI lawn detection), together with any changes you make
• Images of your property - when your map is saved, we keep a satellite image of the property from Google Maps (a full-size copy without drawings, and a copy showing the outlines on your map). If we review your map for AI training, we may add public US government map layers for the same lot: a public aerial photo, a plant-cover (NDVI) image made from it, elevation and slope images, and an outline of nearby buildings. If you share an AI beta review, the aerial images it used are kept with it (see above)
• Lawn area calculations - automatically computed from the outlines on your map
• Device and drawing details saved with your map - when a map is saved, we record the kind of device it was drawn on (phone, tablet or computer), its operating system, screen size, whether it has a touchscreen, your browser's standard identification string (user agent), and how long you spent drawing. We use this to compare how accurate the measuring tool is on different devices and to improve it, not to identify you or for advertising
• Approximate location of weed identifications - when you use the Weed Identifier, the country your connection comes from (and in the US, Canada and Australia, the state or province), recorded with the plant's name. Never the IP address or anything more precise (see Aggregate Statistics We Publish below)
• Account information - your email address and a password when you create an account (Supabase, our authentication provider, stores the password only as a secure hash; we never see it). You can add your first and last name in Account Settings, and some sign-up forms let you enter your name when you register. If you sign in with Google, see “Data we receive from other sources” below
• Name, email, phone number and any notes you add - if you request a quote from a lawn professional, or if a company that uses MeasureLawn Pro enters your details to send you a quote (see Quotes sent to you by a company)
• IP address and browser information - processed automatically by our servers to keep the service secure and limit abuse (for example, rate limiting). We do not store your IP address with your map. We do save your IP address and browser type with the consent records we log: your choice on the cookie banner, accepting our Terms and Privacy Policy when you sign up or sign in, signing up for marketing email when you create an account or use “Email me this plan,” and agreeing to share your details when you send a request through our main quote form. We also save your IP address with any written review you send us through the “Share your experience” form
• How you arrived at our site - outside the EEA and UK, a first-party cookie (ll_first_touch) records the first page you visited, the website that linked you to us, and any campaign or ad-click tags in that link. If you sign up for a MeasureLawn Pro or MeasureTurf account, we save this with your sign-up record, along with your answer to “How did you hear about us?” if you give one
• Usage data - pages visited, features used, and interactions via Google Analytics (with your consent where required), and cookieless page and page-speed measurements from Vercel
• Plant photos - when you use the Weed Identifier, the Grass Identifier, or the photo option for identifying your grass type while building your lawn plan. They are sent to Pl@ntNet to identify the plant, and kept by us only if you leave “Keep my photos” ticked; the grass-type photo option in the lawn plan never keeps your photo (see Photo Identifier below)
• Reviews you send us - if you use the “Share your experience” form, we collect the name you enter (we ask for your first name only), your town if you give one, your star rating and your comment. After we review them, we may publish the name, town, rating and comment on our website. Any private feedback you add (“What did you like?” / “What could we improve?”) is only for us and is never published. We also store the IP address the review came from, to prevent spam

How your map is saved: we save the address you searched and the map you draw automatically while you use the tool — including a short time after you outline your property, as a background backup, not only when you press “Save” or “Done” — so you don't lose your work. Saved maps may also be used to train our mapping AI, without the street address as an input (see AI Model Training) and in the anonymous statistics we publish (see Aggregate Statistics We Publish). A map drawn by our AI lawn detection is stored separately from the maps we use to train our AI and is never used as a training label. If you are signed in, the maps and plans you save are linked to your account. Deleting your account from your Account Settings page deletes your saved plans and the maps linked to your account (see Your Rights for what is kept). To delete a single map or plan without closing your account, email privacy@measurelawn.com from your account email with the property address, and we will remove it. Maps saved without an account are not linked to an account; to have one deleted, email privacy@measurelawn.com with the address you used and we will locate and remove it. If we correct a map while reviewing it, we keep the earlier version (including its address and image) as an edit record.

If you email yourself a plan: when you use “Email me this plan,” we store a copy of that plan against your email address so the link we send can reopen it on any device. The copy includes the address, the satellite image of the property, the outline you drew of your property and the areas you marked (such as the house and driveway), and your grass type and plan settings. Each time you email yourself a plan we store a separate copy with its own link. The links do not expire, and anyone who has a link can open that plan, so please don't forward it. These copies are kept under the same marketing consent as your seasonal reminders: if you unsubscribe using the link in any of our emails, all of them are deleted and the links stop working. Deleting your account does not delete them automatically; unsubscribe or email privacy@measurelawn.com to have them deleted.

Data we receive from other sources: when you search an address or use the map, our servers look up public, open-data records for that location to help outline your property, show lot lines on the map and, where our optional AI lawn detection is available, measure your lawn. These sources are: (1) parcel (lot line) boundaries from state and local government open-data services, currently Metro Nashville and the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury, North Carolina (NC OneMap), Ohio (OGRIP), Florida (Department of Revenue), New Jersey (NJOGIS), Massachusetts (MassGIS), New York State (participating counties), Virginia (VGIN), Maryland (MD iMAP), Indiana (IndianaMap), Wisconsin, Minnesota (MnGeo, participating counties), Texas (TxGIO StratMap), Colorado, Utah (UGRC), Washington (WaTech), Connecticut, Nebraska, Delaware (FirstMap), West Virginia, Arkansas, Idaho (participating counties), and county and city governments in Tennessee, Georgia, Oklahoma, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Pennsylvania, Alabama and South Carolina, with more areas possibly added over time; (2) building outlines from Overture Maps, FEMA's USA Structures dataset and, as a fallback, OpenStreetMap; and (3) public aerial photos, a matching plant-cover (NDVI) image, and elevation data from US government sources. Parcel data describes the recorded boundary of a lot. It is a guide drawn from public records, not a survey, and may be inaccurate. If we use it to draw your property outline, the outline (and which service it came from) is saved with your map like any other map.

If you choose Continue with Google, Google shares your basic profile with us through Supabase, our sign-in provider: your name, email address, profile picture link and Google account ID. We use your name and email address to create and run your account and to pre-fill your name if you request a quote from a lawn professional. This information is stored with your account and deleted when you delete your account. We do not receive your Google password or contacts.

Why We Collect It

• To provide the lawn measurement and care planning service
• To connect you with lawn care professionals (only when you request it)
• To send marketing emails only to email addresses signed up for them. An address can be signed up in one of these ways: (1) by ticking the optional marketing box when you create an account with email and password (signing in with Google does not sign you up); (2) by using “Email me this plan,” which sends you a link to your plan, seasonal reminders for your lawn, and the occasional local-pro price for it, as the form says before you submit; (3) by asking for a fall overseeding reminder on one of our fall lawn care guides, which is one reminder when your window opens; or (4) by joining the international launch waitlist, which is one email when plans launch in your country. We don't send a separate email asking you to confirm first, so if someone else entered your address, use the unsubscribe link in the first email you get. Every marketing email includes a one-click unsubscribe link and our postal address, and you can opt out at any time
• To improve our mapping technology by training our AI model on saved maps, without the street address as an input
• To check how well the measuring tool works on different devices, using the device and drawing details saved with each map
• To identify plants in photos you upload, and — only if you let us keep your photos — to improve our plant identification
• To publish aggregate, non-identifying statistics about lawns measured on this site (see Aggregate Statistics We Publish below)
• To provide personalized product recommendations via our care calendar
• To understand how our site is used and improve the experience (via analytics)
• To save your lawn care plans so you can access them across devices
• To understand which websites, campaigns and outreach bring us sign-ups from lawn care professionals
• To tell you about MeasureLawn Pro, our tool for lawn care businesses. If this browser, or your account if you are signed in, has measured 3 or more different properties in the last 120 days, we may show you an offer for MeasureLawn Pro inside the site. Your browser keeps its own count as one-way codes, not addresses (see Cookies & Local Storage). We may also review a short internal list of signed-in accounts that measured 3 or more properties in a week, showing the account's name and email and how many properties and towns were measured. We don't currently send email about this. We never do this for accounts that already use MeasureLawn Pro

Legal Bases (GDPR)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases for each purpose (Article 6 GDPR):

Where we rely on legitimate interest, we have weighed our interest against your rights and freedoms. For security processing, the data involved is limited (IP address and request metadata), kept in server logs for up to 90 days, and used only to keep the service safe — something visitors reasonably expect. Separately, we keep the IP address and browser type with each consent record as proof of that choice, and the IP address with reviews you send us to prevent spam (see Data Retention). For AI training, the street address is not an input to the model (see AI Model Training below), so the model never learns your address or identity. You have the right to object to any processing based on legitimate interest (Article 21 GDPR) by emailing privacy@measurelawn.com.

Withdrawing consent: you can withdraw consent at any time, and withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before you withdrew. For analytics cookies, if you are in the EEA or UK, use the “Manage Cookies” link in the measurelawn.com site footer (open “More”) to reopen the cookie banner and change your choice; elsewhere, see Cookies & Local Storage. For marketing emails, use the unsubscribe link included in every email. For identifier photos, leave the “Keep my photos” box unticked on your next scan (the box doesn't remember your choice, so check it each time; in the United States it starts ticked), and to have photos from an earlier scan deleted, follow the steps under Photo Identifier. To have a review you sent us removed from our site, email us with the name and approximate date you used.

Separately, the “Help improve this free tool” box for AI lawn-detection reviews starts ticked for everyone, and you can untick it before you confirm. To have a review you already shared removed, email privacy@measurelawn.com with the property location and approximate review date.

Who We Share Data With

• Supabase - our database and authentication provider (stores your account and plan data on Amazon Web Services infrastructure)
• Google Maps - for satellite imagery, map rendering, address search suggestions, and address geocoding, including turning your device location into an address when you use “Use my location”
• Google Sign-In - if you choose “Continue with Google,” Google handles that sign-in and shares your basic profile with us (see “Data we receive from other sources”)
• Google Analytics - for understanding site usage (with consent for UK/EEA visitors). Google may collect your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time on site
• YouTube (Google) - hosts the product video on our pages for lawn care professionals. It loads only if you press play; nothing is requested from Google before that, and we use YouTube's privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com mode. Once playing, Google may receive your IP address and store data on your device
• OpenAI - writes the short AI briefing on your lawn plan, powers our lawn chat assistant, and writes treatment advice for plants outside our weed guide. When your plan opens, we automatically send OpenAI the town and state of your property (never the street address or ZIP code), your grass type, the current soil temperature, the week's weather forecast and this month's care tasks so it can write the briefing. If you use the chat, OpenAI also receives your messages, plus your town and state, grass type, lawn and flower-bed area and weed level. For plant advice it receives only the plant's common and scientific name, never your photo or your address. Our staff may also send a satellite image of a property to OpenAI when testing automatic mapping tools. OpenAI does not identify grass from photos; our Grass and Weed Identifiers use Pl@ntNet (below)
• Pl@ntNet - the plant-identification service (run by a French public research consortium) behind our Weed and Grass Identifiers and the grass-type photo option in the lawn plan. The photos you upload are sent to its API from our server to identify the plant, without your name, email or account. Pl@ntNet's API terms say photos sent for identification are not stored in its database; it records the date and time of each request. The example plant photos on your results screen load directly from Pl@ntNet's servers, which receive your IP address when they load
• Open-Meteo - provides our weather forecasts and soil-temperature readings. When our servers ask Open-Meteo for your property's forecast or soil-temperature history, we send only an approximate location, rounded to about 1 km. The soil-temperature tool on our blog sends the map position Open-Meteo gives for the town or ZIP code you type, which is not your property's location. Some pages (your lawn plan and our soil-temperature tools) also contact Open-Meteo directly from your browser to look up a location. Those requests send the town or ZIP code, or the approximate map position of that town or ZIP code (and, if the town is not recognized, your street name without the house number). Because they come from your browser, Open-Meteo also receives your IP address. We do not send Open-Meteo your full address, your name or your email
• Public map-data services - to show your lot line, outline buildings, check the house you marked when you save a map, and load the aerial photo our AI lawn detection uses, our server sends the map position of the property being measured (map coordinates or a small box around it, never your name, email, phone or street address) to public data services. These are: the state and county parcel services listed under “Data we receive from other sources,” some hosted on Esri's ArcGIS Online; FEMA's USA Structures building map (also on ArcGIS Online); Overture Maps building data (hosted on Amazon Web Services); OpenStreetMap data servers, some located in Germany and France; and US government aerial-photo and elevation services. These requests come from our server, not your browser, so these services do not receive your IP address
• Vercel - our website hosting provider (processes HTTP requests including IP addresses)
• Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights - cookieless measurement of how our pages are used and how fast they load (page address, browser and device type, and page-load timings). They set no cookies and do no cross-site tracking. This is separate from Vercel's hosting role
• Upstash - our rate-limiting service. To stop abuse and automated overuse, it briefly stores your IP address (and, when you ask for a password reset, your email address) with the name of the feature you used and a request counter. Each entry is set to expire automatically when its time window ends, at most 24 hours. It is not used for any other purpose
• RunPod - GPU computing we occasionally use to train and test our mapping model. A training job connects to our database with a key that gives it broad access to our database, and uses it to read the approved saved maps it trains on: the satellite image, the outlines drawn on it, and their exact map position. The job drops the street address before training begins, but the map position stays, because the model needs it to line the outlines up with the image. When we test the model on a property, RunPod receives that property's satellite image and its map position, not the street address. RunPod does not use this data for its own purposes
• Resend - our email delivery provider. It handles the full content of the emails we send, not just names and email addresses. That includes account, plan and reminder emails to you. When you request a quote, it also handles the quote emails: the confirmation we send you (your name, address and lawn size) and the notice we send the lawn care company (your general area and lawn size for a request made on our site; your name, email, phone number, address and lawn size for a request made through a company's own quote tool)
• Stripe - payment processing for MeasureLawn Pro business subscriptions and lead fees. Card details are entered directly with Stripe; we never see or store full card numbers
• Amazon (Amazon Associates) - for affiliate product links. We don't send Amazon your name, email, address or lawn details. Product pictures on our pages load directly from Amazon's servers, so Amazon can see your IP address and basic browser information when those pictures appear. If you click a product link, you go to Amazon's website, where Amazon's own privacy notice and cookies apply. We earn a commission on qualifying purchases, and we track those clicks with Google Analytics
• goQR.me (api.qrserver.com) - draws the QR code shown on your lawn care calendar. It receives only a link to our website, plus your IP address and browser information when the image loads
• Local lawn care professionals - only when you ask for a quote, either on our site or through a company's own quote tool (see If you use a company's quote tool). On our site, a request normally goes to no more than 3 companies. If companies cover your address, it goes to the ones shown to you: on some screens you can untick any you don't want before sending, and on others we show the companies we'll contact and you can send to all of them or cancel. Our team may also pass a request to other partner companies ourselves, for example if the companies you chose don't respond. If no company receives your request (because none covers your address yet, we couldn't check which companies do, or the companies you picked can no longer take requests), we keep it and, for up to 60 days, may offer it to new partner companies that join covering your ZIP code, up to 3 in total. Once a company has accepted it, we stop offering it to newly joining companies. Before a company accepts a request, it sees your general area (usually your town, state and ZIP code, not your street address), your lawn and flower-bed size, any answers you gave about the property and, where you drew one, the shape of your lawn without its location. A company that accepts your request also receives your name, email, phone number (if you gave one), address, your measured lawn (including the outline you drew), any notes and services you asked about, and any price you were shown. We may receive a fee from it. Under our Pro Partner Terms, companies agree to use your details only to respond to your request and provide services you ask for, to keep them secure, not to sell or re-share them, and to honor deletion requests. Any follow-up marketing from them must follow US anti-spam and telemarketing laws (CAN-SPAM and the TCPA), and you can opt out with that company directly. Once a company has your details, it holds its own copy, which deleting your data with us does not remove; contact that company to have its copy deleted. If a company that accepts your request (or whose own quote tool you use) has connected its Jobber account (a job-management service many lawn businesses use, based in Canada), we also deliver your request into that company's Jobber account on its behalf: your name, email, phone number, address, measured lawn size, any mowing schedule you picked, your answers and the services or price involved, and a link the company uses to open your request in its MeasureLawn dashboard. Jobber holds that copy for the company under the company's own agreement with Jobber.

We do not sell your personal data to data brokers or advertisers, and we never share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. When you request a quote, we pass your details only to lawn care companies as described above (and may receive a referral fee from them). If you live in California or another US state whose privacy law gives you this right, you can tell us at any time, by emailing privacy@measurelawn.com, to stop passing your details to any further companies.

If you use a company's quote tool

Some lawn care and artificial-turf companies use MeasureLawn's technology for an instant-quote tool on their own website, or for a quote page we host for them. Those pages may sit on measurelawn.com, mylawnpage.com, measureturf.com or the company's own site. If you measure your property there, the information you enter goes to that company only, and we do not offer it to any other business. That includes your name, email, phone number, address, the outline you draw, your answers to its questions, any mowing frequency you choose, and the estimate you were shown. We send it as soon as you finish measuring, so the company can follow up even if you don't complete the last step. At that point we email the company a notice of your request, and we email you a receipt in the company's name through our email provider (Resend). If the company has connected its Jobber account, then once you send your request we also add it to that Jobber account for the company. What the company does with your details after that is covered by its own privacy practices, and our Pro Partner Terms require it to use them only to respond to your request and provide its services. We keep the request in our system as a quote request (see Data Retention).

To improve our measuring technology, we also keep a separate copy of your property outline, with the measured area and a note of which company's tool it came from, but not your name, contact details or address. We do not keep this copy for visitors in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, or when we can't tell which country you are visiting from. Because this copy has no address, it does not appear in any account. To have it deleted or excluded from training, email privacy@measurelawn.com with the property address and the company's name, and we will find the copy by its location and remove it.

Quotes sent to you by a company

Lawn care and turf companies that use MeasureLawn Pro can send their customers a quote through us, even if you have never used MeasureLawn yourself. In that case the company gives us the details: your name, email address, phone number (if provided), property address, and the quote (services, prices, notes, and any payment link). We store these to email you the quote on the company's behalf and to keep it available at its private link until it expires or the company withdraws it. When you open the quote page we record that it was opened. When you scroll, tap or type on it we record that it was seen, and if you accept it we record that too. We show these to the company that sent the quote. We use this information only to deliver the quote and run the service for that company. We do not use it for our own marketing, and we do not sell it. The company controls its relationship with you, so questions about the quote itself should go to them. To stop quote emails sent through MeasureLawn, use measurelawn.com/unsubscribe or email privacy@measurelawn.com. Once your address is on our suppression list, we will not send you further quote emails.

If you run a business on MeasureLawn Pro or MeasureTurf

If you sign up as a lawn care, turf or outdoor-services business, we also hold the following:

• Business and contact details you give us: company name, contact name, sign-in email, phone number, website, logo and page images. When you accept our terms we also record the time, the terms version and your IP address
• Service and pricing settings: your services, service area (a radius around a point, a shape you draw, or a list of ZIP codes), prices, widget settings, and the quotes you create and send
• Billing status: your plan, trial dates, and subscription and payment status from Stripe. Stripe handles your card details; we never see or store your full card number
• Account activity: when you last signed in; a log of changes made to your account (for example price or settings changes, recorded with the email of the account that made them); and, where this feature is switched on, which dashboard screens are opened and how far visits to your quote page and widget get (with a random number for each visit and no visitor details). We use these to support you, keep the service secure, and understand which features are used
• How you found us: your answer to “How did you hear about us?” and the page or campaign that first brought you to our site (see the ll_first_touch cookie below)
• Jobber connection: if you connect Jobber, we store the access tokens Jobber issues so we can send your leads into your Jobber account. When you disconnect or delete your account, we delete the tokens and tell Jobber to end the connection
• Business summaries for our own AI assistant: we may let an AI assistant service we use to help run MeasureLawn (such as Meta's Muse) read a business summary. It includes company names (which for some businesses include the owner's name), whether an account is active and its page is live, trial end dates, the last sign-in and the last few account actions with their dates, setup issues, and counts of quotes, requests and lead offers. It is built to leave out people's names, email addresses, phone numbers and street addresses

What is public: the details you choose to show on your quote page and widget (such as your company name, logo, website, contact phone, service area and prices) appear there, because that is what they are for. Your sign-in email, IP address and activity records are not public. We use this information to run your account and quote page, deliver leads, bill you, prevent abuse and fraud, give support, send you service emails about your account, and improve the product. We do not sell it.

AI Model Training

When we use saved maps to train our mapping AI, the street address is not an input to the model: the training files our models learn from keep no street address, only the state, the name of the aerial-photo tile the image came from (an area a few miles across), and an internal ID that links back to the saved map. (Internal working copies our team exports from saved maps can still include the address.) The training copy keeps the satellite or aerial image of the property and the exact position of the outlines on that image, because the model needs both to learn what lawns, buildings and driveways look like and the shapes have to line up with the picture. So the training data is de-identified (no street address), not anonymous. The model learns shapes and patterns in imagery; it is never given your address. Your saved map record itself keeps the address and location so we can show it back to you and review it (see Data Retention). Our GPU provider, RunPod, processes these images and positions on our behalf (see Who We Share Data With).

• The street address is not an input to training - the model learns only shapes and patterns, not who lives at a property
• Maps drawn by our AI lawn detection are kept separately and are not used as training labels. Only AI beta reviews you choose to share, where you corrected the lawn, can be used, after an admin checks them (see Optional AI lawn detection feedback)
• Our team may also trace a property's lot line and features on public aerial imagery to build training labels. These labels store no address, but they keep the lot's map position and a link to the saved map they were drawn for. They are used only to train and test our models

Photo Identifier

When you use the Weed Identifier or Grass Identifier, the photos you choose (up to three of the same plant) are sent from our server to Pl@ntNet to identify it. The same happens with the single photo you can upload to identify your grass type while building your lawn plan; that photo is never kept by us. Apart from each photo's file name, nothing else about you goes with them. The example photos shown with your results are loaded directly from Pl@ntNet's servers, so, as with any website image, Pl@ntNet receives your IP address and basic browser information when they load.

Your approximate location. The Grass Identifier also uses your state — worked out from your internet connection, never from your photo — to rank which lawn grasses are likely where you are (kikuyu, for example, is rarely grown in Tennessee). It is used for that scan only and is not stored, unless you let us keep your photos. The Weed Identifier is different: it keeps your country (and in the US, Canada and Australia, your state) with its record of each identification, as described below.

Keeping photos to improve the identifier. The uploader may show a “Keep my photos” box. If you leave it ticked, we keep a copy of those photos so we can improve our plant identification over time — including checking where answers go wrong and training our own identification models. In the United States the box starts ticked and you can untick it; everywhere else it starts unticked, and we keep your photos only if you tick it. If you untick it, or the box isn't shown, your photos are not kept.

• Location data is removed. Every kept photo is re-saved on our server before storage, which strips its hidden data (GPS location, camera details and time taken)
• Not linked to you. We keep no name, email, account or IP address with a kept photo — only what the identifier answered, which answer you settled on, and the country and region your internet connection comes from, as reported by our hosting provider. In the United States, Canada and Australia that region is a state or province; elsewhere it can be as small as a single city (for example Berlin or Tokyo)
• Private. Kept photos sit in private storage. We do not publish or sell them, or share them with anyone except the service providers listed above who store data for us
• Please leave people and house numbers out of shot. The identifier only needs the plant
• Deleting a kept photo: because kept photos are not linked to you, we usually can't find a particular one later. Email privacy@measurelawn.com with the date and time of the scan and a description of the plant, and we will look for it and delete it

We also keep a record of each identification's outcome — the plant name, whether our result screen had an answer and products for it, and (for the Weed Identifier) the approximate location described under Aggregate Statistics We Publish — with no photo and no personal data, so we can see which plants people ask about most, and where.

Aggregate Statistics We Publish

We publish statistics drawn from the lawns measured on this site — for example a map on our home page showing roughly where the tool has been used, and our lawn size study, which reports typical lawn sizes nationally and by state. These are always aggregates: we never publish an address, a precise location, a property boundary, or any figure that describes a single property.

• Minimum group sizes. A dot on the coverage map represents an area of roughly 35 miles across and only appears once at least two separate properties fall inside it. A state is only included in the size study once at least 20 properties have been measured there. Below those thresholds a property is counted only within a larger national total
• Exact coordinates are never sent to your browser — the published map is drawn from rounded grid positions calculated on our server
• The figures are recalculated periodically from the current data, so a map you delete stops contributing to them
• The same opt-out applies: email privacy@measurelawn.com and we will exclude your measurement

Weed identifications. When someone uses the Weed Identifier, we record the name of the plant it identified together with the country the visitor's internet connection comes from, as reported by our hosting provider — and, in the United States, Canada and Australia, the state or province. We never store the IP address or anything more precise than that, and nothing that identifies the person. We may publish totals from these records — for example, which weeds are being identified most often in a state — and a state is only shown once it has enough identifications, spread over enough days, that no single one stands out.

Measurements started from a chat assistant

When you open a MeasureLawn link from a chat assistant (such as Muse, ChatGPT or Claude), your measurement is tied to a private, temporary session. A strictly necessary cookie (listed under Cookies & Local Storage) ties the session to the browser where you tap Start measuring. The link stops working 24 hours after your assistant creates it, or sooner if you end it. Nothing is sent back to your assistant until you tap Share. Then it receives your lawn size (in square feet and square meters), how it was measured (from an outline you reviewed), when you shared it, and a link to your plan that opens only in the browser you measured in. It never receives your address, outline or satellite imagery. Sharing with your assistant is your choice, and the assistant's provider is not one of our service providers. The map itself is saved as you work, whether or not you tap Share, like any other map made on MeasureLawn, as described under “How your map is saved” (in What Data We Collect) and AI Model Training above, with a note of which assistant sent you. Ending the link, or letting it expire, does not delete that saved map. If our AI outlines your lawn, the sharing choice described under Optional AI lawn detection feedback applies. Your plan works like any other plan, so its AI briefing and lawn chat send OpenAI your town and state, never your street address. Map and weather providers receive location information to supply their features. From your plan you can also choose to email it to yourself or ask local lawn care companies for prices; those work just as they do elsewhere on MeasureLawn, as described in this policy, and nothing is sent unless you ask.

Results already received by your assistant are controlled by that provider. After you share, the session also holds your address, outline and lawn size until it ends. We delete session data from our active database with an automatic hourly cleanup after the link expires (normally within about an hour), or right away if you delete it. Copies may remain for a limited time in our database provider's backups. To limit abuse, we also keep short-lived request counters tied to a one-way code made from the connecting IP address; these are deleted within about two hours.

Data Retention

Your Rights

Under GDPR and applicable US state privacy laws, you have the right to:

• Access your data
• Correct your data
• Delete your data (“right to be forgotten”)
• Export your data (data portability)
• Object to processing
• Withdraw consent at any time (analytics cookies: in the EEA/UK, use the footer “Manage Cookies” link under More; elsewhere, use your browser settings or Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. Marketing emails: use the unsubscribe link in any email. Identifier photos: see “Withdrawing consent” above)
• Opt out of AI training

If you have an account, you can download a copy of your account data and delete your account from your Account Settings page. The download includes your profile and account details, saved plans, quote requests, your email-plan subscription, your consent history (type, policy version and date), and a list of the maps saved while you were signed in (address and dates). It does not include the drawn map shapes, the device details saved with your maps, the images stored with them, the IP address and browser type saved with consent records, copies of plans or emails we sent to your email address, or MeasureLawn Pro business records. For a complete copy of everything we hold about you, email us.

Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, saved plans, the maps and AI-drawn maps saved to your account, quote requests made with your account or email, and your seasonal-reminder subscription. Some related records are not removed automatically: images we stored with your saved maps, earlier versions of a map we corrected during review, training labels our team drew for the property, copies of plans you emailed yourself (deleted when you unsubscribe), our copies of emails we sent you, quotes a company sent you, and, for MeasureLawn Pro and MeasureTurf accounts, your business record. We also keep a short internal record that the account was deleted (its email address and the date). Consent records and our do-not-email list are kept as described in Data Retention, and shared AI beta reviews are not linked to your account (see Optional AI lawn detection feedback). Email privacy@measurelawn.com after deleting your account and we will treat it as a deletion request for those records, apart from what we must keep. For all other requests, email privacy@measurelawn.com. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are unsatisfied with our response, you can complain to a data protection authority: in the US, your state attorney general; in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (priv.gc.ca); and if you are in the EEA or UK, your local supervisory authority (see edpb.europa.eu or the UK ICO at ico.org.uk).

Cookies & Local Storage

We use a small number of first-party cookies:

Our staff-only admin pages and a private, password-protected test page use their own sign-in cookies (admin_session, 4 hours; ai_demo). These are never set for ordinary visitors.

For visitors in the EEA, the UK, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, or whose location we cannot detect, the analytics cookies above are set only after you accept via our cookie banner, and the ll_first_touch cookie is not set at all. You can change that choice at any time using the “Manage Cookies” link in the measurelawn.com site footer (open “More”). The banner is not shown on our pages for lawn care businesses (measurelawn.com/pro and measurelawnpro.com), and MeasureTurf pages don't have the Manage Cookies link. To change your choice for one of those sites, delete that site's cookies in your browser settings; analytics cookies are then not set again unless you accept on a page that shows the banner. For visitors elsewhere, including the United States, analytics cookies are set automatically and the site does not show a cookie choice; you can block or delete them in your browser settings, or install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout). Google Maps may also set its own cookies per Google's privacy policy. On our lawn-care-professional pages we embed a product video hosted by YouTube: nothing is loaded from Google unless you press play, and if you do, YouTube (using its privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com domain) may store data on your device under Google's privacy policy. We do not use advertising cookies or sell data to advertisers.

We also use your browser's local storage and session storage (which works like local storage but is cleared when you close the tab). We use them to keep your lawn plan, a map you are still drawing and your plan settings on your device, so your work survives a page reload; to cache weather, soil-temperature and similar results for your property so pages load faster; and to remember interface choices such as your theme, tours you have seen and banners you have dismissed. We also keep a short record of the properties and towns this device has measured in the last 120 days, stored as one-way codes rather than addresses. We use it to decide whether to show a “running a lawn business?” offer, and we may include the number of properties (never the addresses) in our analytics events. After you save a map, we keep a short list of the maps saved on this device (address, date, and lawn and flower-bed size, up to the last 120) in local storage (ll_training_samples_local). When you share a measurement started from a chat assistant, session storage briefly holds the finished map (ll_assistant_handoff) to open your plan, and it is removed as soon as the plan reads it. If you use our mower comparison tools, session storage holds a random session ID (ll_mower_session) that is sent with the mower-comparison events we record; in the EEA and UK, or when we can't tell which country you're visiting from, it is only created after you accept analytics cookies. If you use MeasureLawn Pro, unsent quote and signup drafts, including customer details you have typed in, are kept in your browser until you send or clear them. If you use a lawn professional's quote widget on their website, the widget keeps your progress in that browser tab until you close it. When you sign out, we clear everything we have stored except a few interface preferences, and you can clear the rest at any time through your browser settings.

International Data Transfers

We are based in the United States, so if you use Measure Lawn from the EEA, UK, or elsewhere, your personal data is transferred to and processed in the US. Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the safeguards below for these providers, and you can ask us about any other transfer:

• Google LLC (Maps and address search, Google Sign-In, Analytics, YouTube) - certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF), including the UK Extension
• Amazon.com, Inc. (AWS, which hosts our Supabase database; Amazon Associates) - certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, including the UK Extension
• Vercel Inc. (hosting, Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights) - certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, including the UK Extension
• Stripe (payments) - certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, including the UK Extension
• OpenAI (AI features) - Standard Contractual Clauses (OpenAI serves European users through OpenAI Ireland Limited, with onward transfers under SCCs)
• Resend (email delivery) - Standard Contractual Clauses incorporated in its data processing addendum
• Supabase and RunPod - Standard Contractual Clauses where required. RunPod receives satellite images and drawn outlines with their exact map position; street addresses are removed inside the training job before the data is used
• Jobber (Canada; used only when a lawn care company that receives your details has connected Jobber) - Canada is recognized by the European Commission and the UK as providing adequate protection for commercial organizations
• Pl@ntNet - based in France, so photos you submit for identification are processed in the European Union

You can request a copy of the safeguards that apply to your data (for example, the relevant Standard Contractual Clauses) by emailing privacy@measurelawn.com.

Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach affecting your personal data, we will notify affected users and relevant authorities within 72 hours as required by GDPR.

Children

This service is intended for adult homeowners and is not directed at children. In the EEA and UK we do not knowingly collect data from children under 16 (or the lower age, no less than 13, set by your country's law); elsewhere, we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at privacy@measurelawn.com.

US State Privacy Rights

If you are a resident of California (CCPA/CPRA), Virginia (VCDPA), Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), or another US state with consumer privacy legislation, you may have additional rights regarding your personal data. These generally include the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, the right to request deletion of your data, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell your personal information to data brokers or advertisers, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. When you ask for a quote, we pass your details to lawn care companies and may receive a fee from them, as described under Who We Share Data With; if you live in California or another US state whose privacy law gives you this right, you can email privacy@measurelawn.com at any time to ask us to stop passing your details to further companies.

Some state laws treat precise geolocation as sensitive personal information. We only receive your device's precise location if you tap “Use my location” and allow it in your browser, and we use it to find your property. If you confirm the address, that point is saved with your map like an address you search for (see What Data We Collect). The address you type in is saved with your map as described above.

To exercise any of these rights, you can use the same methods described in the “Your Rights” section above: manage your data directly from your Account Settings page, or email privacy@measurelawn.com. We will verify your identity and respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date and version number, and the consent records we keep note the version that was current when you gave consent. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

What changed on October 3, 2026: we updated the company identity to MeasureLawn LLC and clarified that it operates MeasureLawn, MeasureLawn Pro and MeasureTurf.
